Dunstable teen to race with Alpine Junior Olympic ski team

Garrett Quimby, age 14, of Dunstable, recently made the 16-man Alpine Junior Olympic ski team and races for Waterville Valley, NH. He was one of only 5 boys from New Hampshire that made the team both last year and this year competing against other 13 and 14 year olds.

Garrett started his skiing at Waterville Valley at age 2 and started racing at age 4. At age 6, Garrett was the Nastar National Champion at Vail Colorado, and since then has gone on to be the NH Slalom, Giant Slalom and Overall State Champion. He has won over 40 sanctioned races, when he was 10 years old he won 16 of 20 races, and every State race and championship for the year! A record that still stands today. Two years ago he was the silver medalist at the J4 Junior Olympics and Future Stars Event at Sugarbush VT.

Garrett who currently skis for the Waterville Valley Academy has had a good year building to the JO's with 3 wins and 5 podiums!

Garrett will be competing in this prestigious event on his home soil this year, Waterville Valley NH on the same race course of many a World Cup events and skiing legends of the like of Jean Claude Killy and Alberto Tomba! A tough hill and extremely challeging. Mark the weekend of March 9-12 were Garrett will be racing against the best skiers from the East.
