I attended the Lowell Schools until the 7th grade then my family moved back to North Chelmsford and I graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1947.
After graduation, I worked in the secretarial pool at the Veteran's Branch of the University of Massachusetts at Devens until it closed in 1949.
I worked in the office of the Merrimack Mills in Lowell for about 5 years; there I met my future husband Bob. The Mill was closing; I then went to the work at the Lowell Electric Light (Mass Electric) in the Payroll Department and later as Secretary to the Sales Manager.
After the mill closed Bob went to work for the B&M as a Fireman, later promoted to Locomotive Engineer. We were married in 1957. I left work in 1959 to be a stay at home Mom. When my youngest daughter was in school full time I went to work for the Courier Citizen. I retired in 1989.
In order for my daughters to join the Girl Scouts, I started a troop at the Pawtucket -Memorial School in Lowell, where I was the Leader until we moved to Dunstable.
I have 4 daughters, 2 stepsons, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
In 1972 we bought land in Dunstable on School Street and built our home with the help of family and good friends. One of my stepsons followed suit and built on High Street. I still live in the same house with my youngest daughter and her family.
After my husband passed away in 1993, I joined the Dunstable Senior Citizen Club, where I met and made a lot of friends. I've been Treasurer of the Club for 7 years. I also am a member of the Council on Aging, and have been Treasurer for 9 years. I attend and enjoy the Senior Center at the Library.
I enjoy knitting, crocheting and reading.
