Need to Re-register on the Telemarketer Do Not Call Registry

from the website for Attorney General Martha Coakley

The National Do Not Call Registry has been a great resource for many consumers in their efforts to limit telemarketing calls.

You may have read in a recent report in the Boston Sunday Globe that those who registered when the list was started in 2003 will need to register again, starting in June, 2008, because the registrations expire after five years.

Although there is federal legislation pending to make national Do Not Call registration permanent, until the law is changed, consumers must re-register every five years.

There is also a Massachusetts Do Not Call registry, managed by the Executive Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulations. You may register your home phone by calling 1-866-231-2255, or by visiting the Massachusetts Do Not Call Program website.
