If you learn to use a two handed backhand,it will give you a lot of added control and power.

A lot of tennis players, especially beginners, have a phobia for hitting backhands. There are several things that can go wrong.

The most important factor is to learn the backhand grip! The grip is about an inch to the left of the forehand grip with the palm of the hand covering the top part of the handle. This grip eliminates the weak wrist that comes from using the same grip for the forehand and backhands, as most beginners do. It also flattens out the racket face, which keeps your ball in the court a bit more.

One option that could help your backhand is to put the left hand on top of the right, assuming you are a righty, and let the left hand do all the work of pushing, brushing up the back of the ball, and following through. The grip change is still necessary, but this added hand gives so much more control, and power. Give it a try!
